In 1984 at the ripe age of 7, I was gifted my first camera, a Fisher Price kids’ camera that took 110 film cartridges. This planted a seed which has never ceased to grow. Fast forward a few years and my first “real” camera came in the form of my stepdad’s Canon AE-1 SLR 35mm film camera. I was in the 7th grade and this is when my passion for capturing the world around me through photography truly took hold. I learned how to operate a fully manual camera while also developing my own film and printing enlargements in our school’s darkroom…remember darkrooms? Ever since those early days of my photographic journey, I’ve rarely been seen without a camera (or drumsticks) of some sort close by.
For the better part of the past twenty years, I’ve worked as a full time creative professional primarily supporting my freelance clients with their graphic design, web development and digital marketing needs, while also producing photo and video content as requested. During the early 2000’s however, I worked solely as the lead photo retouch artist for a prominent and incredibly successful husband/wife photography team based in Sarasota, FL. It was during these years I honed my digital photo editing skills while processing and editing all the images for their fine art portraiture, fashion, editorial and real estate photography clients. Capturing a technically well-executed photo is only one aspect of producing great photographic work. It is the processing and editing that so-often makes the difference between a good photo and a great one.
All that said, I’ve recently decided to pivot and dive into my true creative passion by making photography my primary professional focus (no pun intended!). Working as a second shooter will be a great opportunity to provide value to an experienced wedding photographer while continuing to hone my own craft and learn the ropes of working formal events.
Leesburg, VA & willing to travel with expenses covered
As an aspiring pro, I’m formally starting my photography business now in 2020, but I have professional experience as a photo retouch artist and have been passionate about photography since 1989. I've never shot a wedding, but am confident in my overall photography skills and looking for the opportunity to support an experienced wedding photographer as a second shooter.
