Most professions require some sort of education or training… electrician, teacher, doctor, hairstylist, etc. Why should wedding photographer be any different?! Starting a business may feel easy at first, but the farther you go down the rabbit hole, the more you realize you just don’t know. The truth is, you don’t technically “need” to have any education to call yourself a wedding photographer… but choosing to invest in education, especially in areas that are completely unfamiliar or don’t come naturally to you, will move your business forward at a much quicker pace than you can do on your own!
You can find online education covering practically every topic- shooting, editing, business, and everything in between. We even have paid resources available in the Second Shooter Society shop, some the same price as dinner at Panera. You don’t need to invest thousands of dollars- start small, and find educators and topics that will be most beneficial to you!
Here are five quick reasons to invest:
- Education saves you time.
- Education helps you avoid mistakes.
- Education helps you improve quickly.
- Education gives you community.
- Education will help you make more money.
Whether you invest in our education or someone else’s (or both!), we strongly encourage you to start somewhere! We’ve both been able to build our wedding photography businesses to full time within just a few years, and we owe so much of our success to the education we invested in. You won’t regret it!
